Under Factories Act, 1948. For 10+ workers (with power) or 20+ (without).

Pollution Control (CTE & CTO)

Consent to Establish & Consent to Operate from SPCB.

Why do I need this?Strict environmental laws. Non-compliance leads to heavy fines and disconnection of power/water.

Fire NOC

No Objection Certificate from Fire Department.

Why do I need this?Critical for safety. Insurance claims will be rejected without a valid Fire NOC.

EPF & ESI Registration

Social security for factory workers.

Why do I need this?Mandatory for units with 20+ (EPF) or 10+ (ESI) employees. Non-negotiable worker right.

BIS Certification

Bureau of Indian Standards quality mark.

"Mandatory for certain products (electronics, cement). builds market trust."

CLRA License

If employing 20+ contract laborers.

"Regulates usage of third-party workforce."

Pro Compliance Tips

  • 01.Apply for "Consent to Establish" (CTE) BEFORE building the plant. Regularize it later for "Consent to Operate" (CTO).
  • 02.Display the abstract of the Factories Act at the entrance of the unit.
  • 03.Ensure weights and measures (Legal Metrology) are calibrated and stamped annually.
